The minimalist style of visuals is clearly presented here, in all of the images I have choose the image has become the main focus of the cover. This is a deliberate and conscious choice as it opens the audience’s eyes to allow them to use their own imagination to interpret what the artist is saying. Losing all the traditional glamour that usually follows a music artist subsequently lets the music speak for itself, creating a space for the audience to not be primarily influenced before they listen to the artist.

By looking at the images above it seems to be trend within mainstream music to have the artists name as the focus in terms of text and one sole image on the cover. For artists like 'Beyonce', one of her latest album covers is speaking extremely voluminous of how well known she is and how much confidence her record company have in the brand they have created. The black background and pink writing conveys that ultimately people only have to read her name on it in order to be persuaded to buy it, almost as though her name on an album is seen as a stamp of approval. It seems the bigger the artist the less effort is required to persuade the audience to buy it by having a more vibrant album cover.

Fonts

In the world of the 'indie' genre a serif font is more popular than any other, the projection at the end of strokes on the letter conveys a more informal tone which fits in with the codes and convention for the 'indie' genre. This illustrates the tone of the music genre, in which it has a relaxed and friendly feel. It is common for indie artists to convey their own personal character through the use of their songs and album covers, therefore this could be why 'indie' artists commonly use fonts that appear to look like handwriting, this creates the more personal feel that an 'indie' artists is likely to create. After all, the name 'indie' stems from wanting to stay away from the corporate big label company's , therefore the personal look that is created by the look of handwriting is extremely fitting for the genre.
